Monterey is fortunate enough to be able to offer our students a number of cultural immersion programs and international school trips to enable our students to gain a greater appreciation of the opportunities they have and to understand of the world around them and their role in it.
2017 saw the beginning of the relationship between Monterey Secondary College and the Adhyapana School in Mudrai, India, which saw the two schools become ‘Sister Schools’. Students from each school will have the opportunity to travel to the other, immersing themselves in the local culture, see cultural sights and attend school to further grow their understanding of our two cultures and build relationships between the two schools. In April, we were fortunate enough to have a group of students visit us from the Adhyapana School, and in July we were fortunate enough to send a group of our students over to India. Learn more about their trip here. This relationship will continue in 2018 and will again see a group of our students travel to India.
In 2016, a group of our students were selected to travel to Cambodia on a 10 day trip, visiting the capital, Phnom Penh and Siem Riep, home of the magnificent Ankor Wat Temple Complex. The students learned about the Khmer people and their culture as well as their long a tumultuous history dating back to 802AD, through the French control, Khmer Rouge to modern day history and development and witnessed many of the wonderful sites Cambodia has to offer. Students also visited the Australian Embassy and learned about the relationship between our two countries.
