Welcome back to Term 4.
Term 4 is always a busy time within our school, as our Year 12 students prepare their transition from secondary education into their lives after, whether it be work or further education. We wish our students the best of luck and commend them for their hard work in the lead up, especially those sitting their Unit 3 & 4 exams.
The Term 3/4 holidays saw the continuation of the refurbishments throughout the school. Much of the time in Term 4 will be spent preparing for the transition of our administration and learning spaces into our newly refurbished buildings, which are on track to be ready for the start of the 2018 school year.
The rest of 2017 will also see the development of the Frankston North Education Plan, in conjunction with Monash University, VSBA, the SER region as well as Aldercourt Primary School, Mahogany Rise Primary School and Monterey Secondary College. The plan will be delivered to the community in early – mid 2018 and I would strongly encourage you to have your say during the community consultation activities running throughout October, or online at engage.vic.gov.au/fnep.
December is also a busy time as we welcome our 2018 Year 7 students in their transition to secondary college. Many of these students will come from local primary schools and have spent time at Monterey throughout the year undertaking transition classes to help them with this change. This is an exciting time for these students and we are sure they will enjoy their time at Monterey.
As always, I am so proud to lead such a diverse school and to be involved in preparing our students for lifelong success and to be active and engaged members of the community and look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
Stuart Jones, Principal.
