The Learning Support Centre provides support for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and learning difficulties. As a needs-based program, the classes focus on behaviour management, developing students’ personal and life skills and socialising students with others. With small class sizes, the program allows students to work at their own level, increasing as they progress through the program. Students attend the centre for any number of periods, determined by their skill level and engagement in school.
The program has shown success in developing not only their life skills but educational outcomes have also been improved for students participating, through an increase in their skill level in the On Demand Testing program.
The Learning Support Centre is lead by Bryan Field.
Bryan has returned to Monterey after a year of travelling, volunteering with young people around the world and visiting family back in Cork, Ireland. Bryan’s role as PSD and Learning Support Coordinator involves working with students who are funded or those who need additional help. His main focus is on improving literacy and numeracy for students and also monitoring students’ wellbeing to help provide the best overall outcomes for our students.
